There are three different service classifications for BMW, which are Oil Service, Inspection I, and Inspection II. There are also some additional services that are excluded from these main service packages which include brake fluid flush and replacement to be performed annually, engine coolant flush and replacement to be performed annually, and timing belt replacement every 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Inspection I services include:

• Engine oil and filter changes
• Inspect for leaks
• Inspect fuel system, tank, lines, and connections
• Check exhaust system for condition and leaks
• Inspect suspension system and power steering
• Check front and rear brake pads, disc surfaces, and calipers
• Grease wheel center hubs
• Inspect clutch system connectors and lines for leaks, damage, and incorrect positioning
• Test parking brake for working condition
• Inspect tire condition, pressure, tread, and wheel alignment
• Read out diagnostic system
• Check coolant level and antifreeze protection level
• Check level of brake and clutch fluid
• Inspect windshield washer fluid level and antifreeze
• Test A/C system
• Reset Service Indicator
• Perform battery load test
• Test all interior and exterior lights
• Check wiper and washer system, wiper blades, washer jet positions
• Check the condition and function of seat belts
• Oil hood, trunk, and door hinges
• Replace cabin filter
• Test heater and defroster
• Visually examine the SRS airbag units
• Road test with check of suspension and steering, brakes, clutch/manual transmission, and automatic transmission

Inspection II services include:

*All services listed above plus the following:

• Inspect the thickness of parking brake linings
• Check for leaks at flexible boots on the half-shafts
• Inspect the entire car body according to terms of rust prevention limited warranty
• Replace spark plugs
• Replace intake air cleaner element
